Labor planning
Construction Labor Production Rate Planning
A production rate estimates task output per worker-hour or crew-hour. Real performance depends on access, crew skill, sequencing, rework and site constraints; this guide deliberately does not publish unsupported universal trade rates.
| Concept | Formula | Example input |
|---|---|---|
| Labor hours | Quantity ÷ production per labor-hour | 500 sq ft ÷ 25 sq ft/labor-hour = 20 labor-hours |
| Crew hours | Labor-hours ÷ crew size | 20 labor-hours ÷ 4 people = 5 crew-hours |
| Labor cost | Labor-hours × burdened hourly wage | 20 × $45 = $900 |
| Productivity adjustment | Base labor-hours ÷ efficiency factor | 20 ÷ 0.80 = 25 labor-hours |
Before using these quantities in a bid
- Example productivity values are illustrative, not published industry rates.
- Calibrate with your own historical jobs and verified crew conditions.
- Paid estimating combines project-specific measured scope with fuller cost workflows.
